Counsel Luzige sworn in as the new district chairperson for the second time.

Mityana district local Government has today sworn in new leaders of council who are going to serve for five years in council.

The swearing ceremony took place at the district headquarters garden, and the function was presided over by the Mityana chief Magistrate and the Mityana returning officer Rebero Charles.

In the binging the returning Officer Rebero Charles was called up to inform the public the person who won the post of the district chairperson and his remarks he thanked all the stakeholders whom they worked with to see that they had a successful election.

He went further to announce that Luzige Joseph Kamya got 63.1% and he merged the winner on the post of district chairpersonship.

After announcing Mr Luzige Joseph was handed to the chief Magistrate and he took oath to start his work as the new district chairperson.

Luzige first served as the district chairperson in 2016-2021 in the next term he was defeated by the NUP candidate Mugisha Patrick Nshiimye and now he has come back in office.

After being sworn in as the district chairperson the chief magistrate also sworn in all the councillors who are going to be in the district council.

                                                

 

The chief magistrate took over the council to vote foe the speaker and two people contested for the post of speakership that’s Musajjawaza Charles and Mulindwa Steven Jet and after elections Musajjawaza merged the winner with 24 votes out of 39 voters. Mulindwa Jet got 15 votes, and he thanked those who voted for him.

                                         

 

After swearing in as the district speaker Mussajjawaza took over the council as a newly elected speaker and presided over to elect the deputy speaker. One name was brought out and that’s Nsumba Charles and no one opposed him and was declared the deputy speaker.

In his speech as the district speaker Mussajjawaza thanked all the councillors who have voted him to be the district speaker, and he said that there are things he wants to use in council so that he can serve well the people and councillors and that’s:

Fairness he wants to see that there is fairness in council to all councillors so that he can give them chance to speak when they are in council every person to be given a chance to discuss.

Discipline will be used in council where he will see that much discipline is utilized in council when the councillors are debating.

Working with every councillor in council this he says will help him to run well the council and giving every person opportunity in council.

Transparency he says that he will be transparent when ever communicating to the councillors and the whole council.

In His communication after swearing Mr Luzige thanked every person who helped him to see to it that he wins the elections most especially the president of Uganda, CDF General Kainerugaba and the NRM party in Mityana district.

He said that there are many things he want to see when they are working upon when he is in office where he sighted that he wants an audit in most of the district departments more especially in human resource, health, works and service commission so that they can account for all what is done in those departments.

He called all the technical staff to work with him so that they can develop Mityana district so that the people they are serving can benefit from their district

After his speech he elected his executive that he is going to work with and among the councillors he appointed Madam Sarah Majorine Ssentamu councillor representing the old person to be the vice chairperson, He appointed Jackline Maria Nampijja woman councillor representing maanyi sub  county as the secretary for Production and work, He went further to appoint Kyagera Eve Aluma as the secretary for Health Education and community, Josephine Namuddu was appointed secretary for Finance and administration.

Mityana resident district commissioner Drake Joseph Mukiibi welcomed the new councillors, and he said that this is what they wanted in the district to have many councillors from one party.

He thanked those who voted for the president and those who voted for the NRM MPs in Mityana district which he said that they did a great job and now they must expect good results from them.

He called on the councillors not to disappoint the voters who voted for them, and he said that that will show a bad image.

He added that all councillors have a role in monitoring the government programs and making reports on them.

He thanked the outgoing council which he recommended that they have done good work in council and asked those who have come to learn from them.
