The District Council is the supreme political head of the District. Mityana District council is composed of 37 members being headed by the District Chairperson Hon. Mugisha Patrick Nshimye.
The Council is comosed of different politica paties and the politicl paty with a big number of Councillors is National Unity Pltform with 15 Councillorsfolowed by National Resisitence Movement with 14 Councillors, DemocraticParty has 5 Councillors and those that are Independent are 3.
