Mityana Resident District Commissioner Joseph Drake Mukiibi has commissioned the office of the district health officer which has been under renovation for five months.
While commissioning RDC Mukiibi thanked the government of Uganda for sending in money to the local governments and also thanked the Mityanave to district local government for the good handling of the government money and he said that as the office of the RDC their cadinal role is to monitor all projects where government put money to see that there is value for money.
RDC Mukiibi added that the offices of DHO have been in the bad condition yet the people working in the building are health workers and the renovation has come in time\.
He urged leaders in the district to monitor government projects and programs not to leave them to the office of the RDC only, but all leaders have to make monitoring so that they can know where the government is putting money.
He asked leaders to tell their people in the community to utilise the hospital because the government sends medicine in the hospital and the services are for free.
Secretary for Health and Education Sulait Mambo Ssengendo who also represented the district chairperson thanked the government of Uganda for providing money for the district and thanked the DHO for renovating the offices and he applauded the efforts done by Sona engineering because they did a good work and in time.
Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Mityana District Jack Byaruhanga thanked the government of Uganda and he said that as the district they are going to follow up with all the government project to see that they serve for a long time.
Byaruhanga thanked the contractor for working with the district monitoring committee when monitoring the work. He added that their role of monitoring the work is to see that good work is given to the residents.
DHO Mityana District Dr Vicent Kawooya said that the reason why they renovated the offices was that they were in a bad condition where they were in a fear to get damaged any time when it rains.
He added that being in the bad offices, yet they are working on the lives of people does not give meaning that’s why they renovated the offices.
Engineer Livingston Mwanuke said that the renovation kicked off in December last year and was completed in may and the whole work has taken over 43 million and this has included renovation, painting, cleaning of the roof and putting new tiles in the flower.
