Mityana District Council approves a budget of over 44 billion for the FY 2026/2027

Mityana district Council approved a budget of UGX 44,722,617,139 for the 2026/2027 which comprises of 1,401,219,057 as local revenue and from the central government transfer is 42,110,104,923 and other government transfers shillings 811,233,159 and the donors or NGO transfers of shillings 400,000,000 financial year during a council sitting held today at Mityana district headquarters.
Presiding over the session, Speaker Hon. Catherine Nalweyiso Tusubira, welcomed council members and commended them for their continued cooperation and commitment to serving the people of Mityana district.
Speaker Nalweyiso also applauded the district’s strong performance in all activities, and she thanked the councilors for the efforts they have done to see that they pass the resolutions and also managing well the council with out any fights in council.
In her remarks she appreciated the work done by the councillors in the district and the recommendations they have made in the district.
The budget theme for mityana district Local government for the financial year 2026/2027 “Improving household incomes and welfare through commercial Agriculture, Improved Production and Productivity Financial Inclusion and social Services delivery.”
The approved budget will be allocated across sectors with Education taking the largest share of money worth 16,549,033,616, followed by Health with 12,794,430,959, Administration taking 9,730,248,946, Roads and Engineering has 1,486,233,159, Production with 1,991,282,725, while Water will take 447,717,152 million shillings and Statutory Bodies allocated 521,387,000, Natural Resources got 91,428,788, Planning will receive 651,925,780, Finance was allocated 185,387,000, Community-Based Services has 103,422,103, Trade, Industry and Local Economic Development 67,504,911 and Internal Audit will take 102,615,000.
Vice Chairperson Annie Mariam Nassali thanked the councilors for the work they have doen yin the five years and she said that the council has been working as a team though they have been from different parties and they have achieved what they expected.
District Chairperson Patrick Mugisha Nsiimye highlighted the achievements during their term of office like building classroom blocks, construction of water and many other things.
He also highlighted improvements in the health sector, noting that in the construction of health workers staff houses and upgrading health centres from grade II to grade III and fencing the health centres.
In his concluding remarks, Mugisha thanked the Speaker and councillors for the unity they have been with during their term of office and he said that they have worked as a group with out any discrimination in the party and more so thanked the Chief Administrative Officer, Edith Mutabazi and the technical staff for the good working relationship they have been with.
The Chief Administrative Officer Edith Mutabazi thanked the councillors for the good deliberation they have been with, and she said that the council has been good and asked those who are not coming back never to give up but to stay serving their people next time they will bring them back.
